Peripheral Nerve Disorders: Pathology and Genetics is a definitive, clinically-oriented guide to the pathology of peripheral nerve disorders.
These commonly seen neurological challenges have many causes and accurate diagnosis is often necessary via pathological analysis. New techniques exploiting molecular biological knowledge have opened up new vistas to understanding the pathogenesis of these disorders, and hence their effective management.
This new title takes a disease-oriented approach to understanding the pathology of these conditions. It combines classical and contemporary techniques to enable practitioners in neurology and neuropathology to better understanding of the disease processes underlying patients' presentations and to formulate appropriate management plans.
Peripheral Nerve Disorders: Pathology and Genetics is a valuable resource for neurologists, neuropathologists, pathologists, neurobiologists and geneticists. -

Extrusion Processing Technology
Jean-Marie Bouvier, Osvaldo H. Campanella
- Wiley-Blackwell
- 31 Mars 2014
- 9781118541722
Extrusion is the operation of forming and shaping a molten or dough-like material by forcing it through a restriction, or die. It is applied and used in many batch and continuous processes. However, extrusion processing technology relies more on continuous process operations which use screw extruders to handle many process functions such as the transport and compression of particulate components, melting of polymers, mixing of viscous media, heat processing of polymeric and biopolymeric materials, product texturization and shaping, defibering and chemical impregnation of fibrous materials, reactive extrusion, and fractionation of solid-liquid systems. Extrusion processing technology is highly complex, and in-depth descriptions and discussions are required in order to provide a complete understanding and analysis of this area: this book aims to provide readers with these analyses and discussions. Extrusion Processing Technology: Food and Non-Food Biomaterials provides an overview of extrusion processing technology and its established and emerging industrial applications. Potency of process intensification and sustainable processing is also discussed and illustrated. The book aims to span the gap between the principles of extrusion science and the practical knowledge of operational engineers and technicians. The authors bring their research and industrial experience in extrusion processing technology to provide a comprehensive, technical yet readable volume that will appeal to readers from both academic and practical backgrounds. This book is primarily aimed at scientists and engineers engaged in industry, research, and teaching activities related to the extrusion processing of foods (especially cereals, snacks, textured and fibrated proteins, functional ingredients, and instant powders), feeds (especially aquafeeds and petfoods), bioplastics and plastics, biosourced chemicals, paper pulp, and biofuels. It will also be of interest to students of food science, food engineering, and chemical engineering. Also available Formulation Engineering of FoodsEdited by J.E. Norton, P.J. Fryer and I.T. - 9781118338193
* Hemovigilance is a "quality process" which aims to improve quality and increase safety of blood transfusion, by surveying all activities of the blood transfusion chain, from donors to recipients. Hemovigilance programmes have now been in existence for over 15 years, but many countries and centers are still at the development stage. This valuable resource brings together the main elements of such programmes and shows the different types of models available. A general introduction includes Chapters on hemovigilance as a quality tool for transfusion as well as concepts of and models for hemovigilance. The core of the book describes how Hemovigilance systems have been set up and how they work in hospitals, blood establishments, and at a national level. These Chapters are written according to a structured template: products and processes, documentation of jobs, monitoring and assessment, implementation and evaluation of measures for improvement, education and training. Chapters on Hemovigilance at the International level, Achievements and new developments complete the picture. Hemovigilance is above all a practical guide to setting up and improving hemovigilance systems, whilst raising awareness for reporting adverse events and reactions. This is the first international book on hemovigilance, assembling all the vital issues in one definitive reference source - essential reading for all staff involved in the transfusion process.

Contributions to Modern and Ancient Tidal Sedimentology
Bernadette Tessier, Jean-Yves Reynaud
- Wiley-Blackwell
- 3 Mars 2016
- 9781119218388
Tidal deposits have been a specific research topic for about 40 years, and whilst this has resulted in a proliferation of papers in scientific journals, there have only been a few book-length syntheses. Over the years, tidal sedimentology has been reinforced by fluid mechanics and numerical modelling but has remained rooted in facies and stratigraphic studies. Recent developments in tidal sedimentology lean toward a more quantitative assessment of the imprint of tides in the facies record of intertidal and shallow subtidal areas. They highlight the increasing relevance of tidal deposits studies, from high resolution subsurface reservoir geology to climate change and sea-level rise. This volume gathers 17 contributions to the Tidalites 2012 congress held in Caen, France. It reflects current advances in the sedimentology and stratigraphy of tidal deposits, in both ancient and modern environments. It shows the current diversity of this field of research, through a wide spectrum of methods including remote sensing, in-situ hydrodynamical measurements, and ichnology, in addition to classic field studies and petrography.
